New Friends

After a few days with Nonna and Papa, the girls and I drove down to Indiana to visit some friends of mine and their kids.  I've known these friends for four years -- but I hadn't met any of them.  We've become friends through an online forum for pregnant moms, and bonded over the years as we've deepened our friendships through avenues like Facebook, texts and email.  I literally talk to these girls every day and it's been incredibly rewarding to share motherhood with a group of women I care about and who have kids the same age.  The trip was a blast.  I got to meet some of the people I consider my closest friends, and the girls got to spend time with new playmates on the playground, doing "makeup" salon parties at the hotel, and eating lunch by the lake.  In the first picture here, all three of the boys were born within a month of Clara's birthday.  I look forward to watching these kiddos grow up alongside my own girls, even if we don't live close to one another.

Too bad you don't live closer to Indiana. My parents met the Alfsons through some sort of babysitting group and we became family friends that went on annual camping trips together for many years.

I didn't know that, Sarah! I'm hoping this isn't the last family vacation with everyone even though we live so far away. But even if not, I'm so thankful that technology makes it so easy to keep in touch these days.
