Thoughts from Clara

As with most three year olds, Clara constantly says things that make us laugh.  Here are some favorites from recent weeks.

She loves to use new words as she learns them.  Sometimes they're used correctly, sometimes not.  Yesterday Clara had just woken up from a really long nap.
Jordan: "Hi Clara! Evie and I have been waiting for you to wake up."
Clara: "Well I'm sorry, I was hibernating."

She's been helping me do chores around the house and she's very proud of herself.
Me: "Clara, wow.  Thanks so much for helping unload the dishes without me asking."
Clara: "Sure, mama.  I'm just practicing being a four year old."

Clara asks us a LOT of questions, and the other day she pointed to a graveyard and asked what it was.  Jordan explained, and Clara was especially interested that some people are buried and some are cremated.  She has no fear of talking about death whatsoever.
Clara: "I want to be cremated and put in the sea when I die.  Evie what do you want?"
Evie: "Roller coaster!!"
Clara: "No, where do you want to be when you die?"
Evie: "Roller coaster!"
Clara [scolding tone]: "No, Evie.  You CANNOT ride a roller coaster when you're dead!"

Some of my favorite conversations are those I overhear when Clara and Evie are playing together.  It mostly consists of Clara assuming the role of mother to her little sister.  In response to Evie wanting Clara to play with her: "I'm sorry, Evie.  I have a thousand things to do today, I can't."

Or the other day, Evie was telling Clara no over and over.  Clara responded, "No Evie, you don't say 'no sissy.'  You say 'yes, sissy, yes sissy.'  Did you hear that?  You say, 'yes sissy'."

On the way to Aunt Summer's for a sleepover, Jordan told Clara to behave if she wants to be invited back for another overnight.  Clara said, "well you know, sometimes kids don't do the right thing, and I'm a kid."
